Lindy "Keeping Me Awake"

Date of original article (1995) (Written by John Ellis)

His provocative lyrics and powerful acoustic guitar playing have made Lindy Canada's foremost modern folk artist.  When he was four years old, Lindy was already touring Canada in various folk groups of the parenting kind; his mom & dad were into it back in the sixties....  I guess a little of the poetic past is now running out of Lindy's pen, and at the heart of his acoustic rock flavorings you can hear many familiar influences pumping through his young musical blood.

By 1990, the eighteen year old Lindy's style had matured somewhat, immerging in a new vehicle, "Northern Junk", the folk rock group in co-founded with his brother Kris. The brothers won almost instant popularity, critics and fans alike soon hailed the band as their local favorite. In 1993 they won the best band category in "Monday Magazine's" annual readers poll. They did this on the strength of both their live shows and the dynamic CD release earlier that year, recorded at Melodeon Recording Studios .  In their four years together "Northern Junk" shared stages with some of Canada's leading bands, including "Spirit of the West", "The Jeff Healey Band" and "Moxy Fruvous".  The band also enjoyed regular airplay on radio stations throughout British Columbia and frequent exposure of CBC radio and "Much Music" with debut video release "Let the Moment Die".

Now 22, Lindy is finally marching to his own drum and is at present back in Melodeon Studios recording his debut album "Keeping Me Awake", featuring the incredible Rick May on Bass, guitarist Steve Nikleva and drummer Paul Brennan. These musicians carry with them their own well deserved reputations and the ten songs on this album serves them up hot... Lindy is supporting his up-coming release with a cross country tour and a "Canadian Campus Tour" in the early Fall. You're going to enjoy this talented "Acoustic Rocker".
